About Me
- About Tim Freeman
- Musical Background
- I was a student bass player 30 years ago. I did not pursue it professionally after about 1992.
- Location
- New Jersey
- Additional Information
- My grandfather, Henry Freeman, was a bass player in the Boston Symphony starting in the mid-1940s through the late 1960s. He bought four basses during his career - an English Dodd, an Italian (I don't know the maker), a German (I don't know the maker), and a JB Allen American bass. I currently have the JB Allen, and my father has the Italian (I'll find out the maker). My father sold the Dodd and the German bass several years ago.
- Your Gear
- JB Allen, circa 1841. It's in pretty good shape for not having any work done on it since about 1990. Strings are 30 yrs old.
- Why you joined Ken's Corner
- I googled JB Allen because I was interested in learning more about that maker and I came upon your site. Just generally interested in basses and history of the instrument.
