What woods are on this bass?

I love this tone. I see the top is quilted maple, but I can't tell if the core is walnut or mahogany.

In another video I got a glimpse of the core. It looked like maybe mahogany with walnut laminates or walnut with mahogany lams, one of them. Sound? How can you tell from a recording? It sounds like most other Smith basses to me thru that amp he is recording thru and the speakers you hear them on. What is his exact EQ on each YouTube? I don't think you can judge just the wood from this. Each of the recordings by him is slightly different with the same bass. Make a couple of recordings playing the exact same thing and compare. Find out exactly how he recorded and little by little, you can then compare various individual things but just a listen with only looking at the woods I think is missing a whole lotta info. |

Makes sense. His sound is different on other videos. But sound has a certain warm growl though, that my BSR6EG doesnt have. My 6EG has that crystal clear ping to me. But I haven't really messed with EQs enough for my 6EG to really get different sounds out of it.
